MP’s decision to attend Gadar’s pro-Telangana meeting irks party leadership

HYDERABAD: Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud’s decision to take part in a pro-Telangana meeting organised by Gadar at Palwancha in Khammam district and his remarks that he will attend anyone’s meeting for the sake of Telangana have upset the State Congress leadership.

Though the controversial MP had been reiterating his pro-Telangana stand quite often, not many had taken his moves seriously within the party all these days. Now, the MP’s reported remarks that he had decided to attend the meeting following the call given by TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao have irked the Congress leadership.

Explanation demanded

At a press conference here on Monday, Gone Prakash Rao, former Chairman of the APSRTC, and Mahesh Kumar Goud, ex-president of the NSUI, demanded an explanation from him as to whether the MP was still a Congress member.

Taking exception to his remarks, they asked him to clarify whether he would attend the meetings of the BJP or the Talli Telangana Party. They asked Mr. Yashki Goud whether he was keeping Rahul Gandhi posted of these developments as he claimed to be a close friend of the latter and getting away with his statements.

They advised him to toe the Congress line and not that of the TRS on the Telangana issue.
